Membership of the NZ Violence Prevention Association
We welcome membership applications from anyone in NZ who supports our values and actions.
Becoming a Member of NZVPA
NZVPA registers individual membership. Where an organisation has more than one member we offer reduced annual membership fees for 3 persons or more and work with the group for accreditation standards. Such groups have a nominal group membership.
We welcome individual practitioners and are prepared to set up new divisions of practice where different areas of work become evident.
There are three levels of membership.
Applicant Membership Category
An applicant member is a person who is:
- Working towards Membership and who agrees to be bound by the N.Z.V.P.A. Code of Ethics, Constitution and Complaints Procedure and has agreed to be accountable to the Association
- Has largely met approved standards. Such candidate will have demonstrated a level of safe and effective practice and will be required by the Membership Committee to meet remaining criteria
- Has completed the Applicant Membership process
Applicant status may be held without review for three years. At the end of the three year period, an Applicant will be required to report on progress towards Membership and to indicate a likely timeframe for any remaining requirements.
Full Membership Category
A full member is a person who has:
- Had a quality assurance check on live work
- Attended to any issues raised in the Quality Assurance report
- Filled out the questionnaire related to their division of professional work
- Been before the membership panel and has been accepted
Supporter Category
A supporter member or organisation is a person or entity who:
- Has an interest and/or involvement in violence prevention activities but who does not qualify, or wish to be involved, in any category of work
- Wants to add their own services to the list of services associated with NZAVPA
- Agrees and supports all aims and objectives of the Association
A supporter is entitled to receive all national, regional and branch publications of the Association and to participate in Association activities but does not have voting powers at the A.G.M.
